After hours of trying, I got the forums working again

Sorry for the delay folks. I have been working 7 days a week, 10-12 hour days, trying to get this fixed when I get the time.

Might be nice to have someone which you delegate some power to, who knows how to tweak the MySQL or phpbb if there are cato problems like we just had. We know your time is well spent in other places. However, there are many who have gotten addicted to these forums. The withdrawal symptoms really suck!

Nice to see you back!

What happened? Did you made an upgrade, install some mod or the forum was victim of hackers?

Thank you for all the well respected effort.
This place is head above the rest. Someone already suggested that there be another administrator with the correct knowledge to help out. Thats a good idea. Theres probably some here that care for this site, and know internet stuff works.

Thanks again for getting it running.
oh yeah the speed now is great.

The changes weren't small guys. For some reason mysql wasn't behaving right so I had to fiddle with the configure options to make it right. Not sure why as this has never been an issue before.

I also upgraded the hardware and OS to FreeBSD 6.x. I also upgraded mysql from 4.x to 5.0.x; php from 4.x to 5.x and apache from 1.x to 2.x, so a lot went on.

I just didn't have enough time to worry about it for a week or so after mysql decided to act up on me.

Glad it's back up. Also, is it just me, or is it working fast again?

In any case, thank you UJ for the forum!

Great news UJ. I was on the point of suicide.
Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
