hydrometer conversion chart

hi all, my hydrometer is different from what most of you are using, i think ??
mine is black at the top starting with the #10, then drops to #0, then drops lower(about 5 inches) down to the #120...
i got it from col. wilson at coppermoonshinestills.com, it's made in
w-germany..(G.WIDDER) is written at the bottom..
he told me to take the starting #, just say 120, and the finishing #, just say 5, and and subtract, that would equal 115, then divide by 8, that would be 14.375 % ABV..
seems simple but i dunno where i should be starting at, was wondering if anyone else is using the same thing or if there's a chart somewhere to convert to the #'s i'm constantly seing here.... thanks

This is a specific gravity hydrometer, correct?

yea, it's labeled as a hydrometer, you can see a picture on his site if you wanna look it's kinda hard to see the numbers though..he also makes some nice looking stills/ sells distiller stuff, and is a super nice guy to talk to....
i gotta get the little woman to post i pict.. cauze i'm not so good at that..
i just figured someone else on here must have the same one, or atleast have seen this type.. i tried searching the site but could'nt find anything...

That sounds like an oechsle scale, what we often use here in Europe.
The black end is the negative scale, and the white is the positive

SG = 1 + Oe/1000

-10 corresponds to a specific gravity of 0.990 Kg/l
0 is 1
+120 is 1.120
