Aquarium Filter Wool

I have only been distilling for a short while and I am still learning. I have some 45% spirit sitting on carbon and some on oak shavings. My question is this, can i use aquarium filter wool instead of a coffee filter to take out the finer particles. I know aquarium wool is made of polyester, would this have any adverse effects in regards to flavour or the drinkers health?
