Lunar eclipse
Anyone else watching the eclipse right now? It is just coming to the end at my place. Completely clear sky, and saw all of it, the full blood-red eclipse, just sitting on my verandah. Brilliant. Sure beats anything on the damn idiot box.
Helped along by a couple of nice homemade drinks, of course.

Dunno, I am in northern Australia.junkyard dawg wrote:Sounds like a fine time....
I didn't know anything about it, was it visible here? in texas...
I forgot to mention that I live in a rural area, away from any street lights and neon signs, so we had no light pollution to spoil it.
The eclipse started just on sunset, and finished about 4 hours later, perfect timing. And it was at the perfect angle too, starting just after moonrise, and finishing at about 55-60º above the horizon, so no cricked necks this morning either. And it was an almost full moon.
I did a bit of amateur astronomy when I was a kid, and still have an interest in it, and this is the best lunar eclipse I have seen.
Anyone who likes astronomy pics should check this site out, they have a new pic up every day, with some explanatory notes.

I doubt we could see it in the north western hemisphere.junkyard dawg wrote:Sounds like a fine time....

I saw (and the wife and I both commented about) the beautiful full moon, as we were driving out to the country just after dark. The eclipse was seen on the other side of the world from us.
H.
Almost all of the Americas could have seen at least some of it, weather permitting.

I saw it, and I'm in the Pacific Northwest. Wouldn't have seen it had we not been placing concrete that "morning". I think it started at about 3:00am PDT and ended about 5:00am PDT. Didn't really get to sit and stare at it much though.

Re: Lunar eclipse
I don't think I'll see the partial eclipse tonight as it's raining on and off. Hoping for some of you in OZ, Edit:NZ, Europe, and SA.

Cool , thank for the heads up juana …. Had no idea .
I normally take a piss about 3.00am so that happens to be about max eclipse here tonight.
So if I remember , I’ll take a peek and a pic . Was pretty full moon last night so should look good .

Re: Lunar eclipse
Well I blew that .
Dug out my old digital SLR and tripod. Sorted out new batteries and SD card . Took some initial pics but the focus seems to have failed on my old camera . In the meantime , my sons Samsung phone is taking clearer pics .
Anyway fir the first time in ages , I slept through the night and didn’t wake once doh .Should have set an alarm .
