Wish i was better with a camera

Cut and bottled a couplea bottles UJSM and one of rum this arvo, and wanted to show off

Camera skills have let me down though.

Wanted to show off my labels, printed off this piccie i found on the web...



The corn is yellow eyes and the mollasses is black eyes...



The big book is the ledger all go in before i give a bottle away, all the little labels are individually numbered with a tiny number that refers back to the ledger and the ledger refers back to the brew/recipe/ferment book.
If anyone rings me up in 5 years time and says 'Remember that bottle ya gave me ages ago? What was in it?' I'll be able to tell em exactly.
Each bottle has a small sliver of toasted oak in it in the hope it'll continue to improve ever so slightly for the rest of it's existence





Anyway, who else has actual labels?

Here is what I have used (I know it is corny, but I like them).



I found that one from a music group/festival poster which someone posted to the web. I had to cut the dates off, and put a proof on it.

This is one I have not used yet, but will shortly





Edit: Note, to affix a label, simply print on "normal" ink jet printer. Then cut it out, and "paint" a little milk on the back of the label, put the label on, and a few minutes later when the milk dries, the label will be stuck. That method will not survive water too well, but it does stick a label on firm for bottles you put in "the liquor cabinet".

Looks good mate, had mine printed at the print shop on clear background, Cost $40 for a couple hundred though, gotta get some with green eyes when the fruit season comes up for my grappa etc, might take a bottle or two of UJSM to the printers and see if i can waggle a discount.

Nice labels, what kind of program did you use to make them with?
I usually use print shop for my labels but I know those graphics are not on print shop..

The Moonshine Mason, was a graphic (a concert in AU I think), and I simply chopped it a bit. I use Jasc's Paint Shop Pro v9. The other label was found online, but again, I made some small changes to it.

My latest try. Wording at bottom is just BS for now...just to get space, etc., right.

I call it Uncle Daddy because backmashing is an incestous process (hence the buckteeth, etc).

Dog on the left and right have tattoos. The dog on the right has Popcorn Suttons beard.

Me either. The most I do is write the %, date, and what type of ferment recipe, on the bottle.

Mind you, that is some nice labels up above. I quite like that 'Kicking Mule' one.

I guess Im to much of a perfectionist myself .. Its for my personal satisfaction ...no one ever sees lots of my work But I do..lol

i have the fonts and orginals I made them from if anyone wants them Im not Greedy lol Or would even help design one ..you can get the small photo image paper thats sticky on the back like 4 x6 or so i think it is ..

I use a sharpie and blue painters tape. ABV before it's cut and proof after cutting. I also include date.

Not many people see my bottles other than a few friends but you put some hard work into making some fine liquors it just fun to finishes off the bottles with a cool labels.

I think so also. Along with, when I allow someone the "privilege" of sharing some of my stock, a nice label (I like the white dog and kik'n mule in this thread) adds to the ambiance of the get together.

Also, I hand out bottles to my boss(s) at Christmas time, and cool labels like this make things look "better"

I have such caps for wine making

but "Bottle Sealing Wax - 1 lb Bag - Assorted Colors" would be way cooler, combined with your own stamp

I've found the shrink wrap seals at many shops or most web stores that sell wine making and botling supplies. They come in nearly any color you might want and are cheap. I shrink them with a heat gun but you can do it with a hair dryer or steam from a kettle. It adds a good finished look to the bottle.

I use them on all my spirits, my blackberry cordial, and even my barbeque sauces.

Brewhaus sells the 375ml (pint) flat bottles. Just the right size for gifts.

Thanks guys, haven't got a brew shop nearby, but i'll do a google search, just ddin't know they were common.

I have just created a wiki page for labels. Right now, the labels have been done inline (i.e. show up right on the page).

I will not upload anyones labels unless they ask me to. NOTE anyone can upload an image file, and link it to the wiki page.

It is easy to do. Simply log in to wiki (you may have to create an account). Then you can edit. Go to the page above, and click edit.

Add your own "section" to the page. Do this:

=='''Labels by YOUR_NICK'''== This will make a large section header). Note 2 equal signs and 3 single quote chars, then text then 3 single quotes then 2 equal signs. This will build a "bold" section for your labels.

Then add lines like

[[Image:YOUR_NICK_bottle_label_name.jpg]]

[[Image:YOUR_NICK_bottle_label_name2.jpg]]

When you have added the links, click the "SAVE PAGE" button. What you will now see is the links (but no pictures). Simply click on the link, and the "upload" page will appear. Then simply upload the .jpg file that is your label.
