Good Prices online copper
Hey guys I found a site
http://www.globalindustrial.com/gcs/pro ... s+-+Copper" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
They beat my local place by a mile a 1.5" cap at my place is $20 CAD at this online store its less than $5. I just ordered $200 worth of parts (including some 3x1.5x3" Tee's) and shipping was free. They have a good selection so I thought i'd throw the link out there.

That is only part of the reason.
China is the big reason copper is so high, and will probably stay high. They are building that MONSTER dam. That thing and the lines leading to shanghi are using about a year or 2 of world supply of copper (but over about a 20 year period). You suck up 10% of a global resource like copper for a couple decades, and the price will do just what we see it doing. If some major mines are also now down (and who knows for how long), it will only make the price more extreme.
Time to hit the salvage yards a little harder

Excellent, found pieces enough to cob together what I need from there. Thank you.
Anyone know of any sites that have copper sheet stock at affordable prices? Sheet or roll copper has been scarce at the local scrap yard, at least in size/gauge I can use. This site seemed to have the most reasonable prices and you can size an order.

Type "copper sheet" in the search field and you can choose any thickness - then look on the graph to find your width and lengths.
They also sell it unpolished, polished and "mirror finish"
I bought some nice fittings from them recently, they ship fast and don't overcharge on shipping

I see Lowes being advertised in Canada.
Has anyone checked them out for copper pipe and fittings. If so, how do they compare with Home Depot?

My sugar wash for ethanol is under the Tried and true recipes forum.
That is damn expensive copper. A metre (39") of new 2" from my local plumbing trade suppliers cost about (AUS) $70, (= $21/foot).mikeac wrote:2" copper prices: McMaster-63$/foot (brass)
OnlineMetals.com-46.79$/foot
That means a 3 foot column woudl come to over 150$ in pipe alone....Are people really spending that much money on columns? Other then scrounging from scrap yard where else can you get 2" copper??

I got this tip from this forum and it works; and I have posted it before, so those who have read it, excuse the repetition.
I bought a 10 ft 2" length from Home Depot (Canada, Ontario) earlier this year. The tag price was $80.00.
Here's the trick. Sort through all the lengths. You are looking for one with a dent.
I found mine that was was crushed slightly at one end, about 2" of damage.
I called the section manager over and asked him what he could do for me.
He called someone and I got my answer in about two minutes.
I bought the damaged 10' length for $40.00.
Good hunting. Has anybody checked out Lowes yet in Canada?

Tradelink was the most expensive place I checked out. I get my copper stuff from either a large industrial plumbing supplies warehouse, or an air-con trade supplier. Careful getting fittings from the air-con folk as they are a slightly different size to the plumbing stuff.

I thought I was paying too much for my fittings. But I only paid (AUD) $9 for a 2" cap.
found 5 sheets of copper (small only 8" by 6") for $2 at a garage sale so I'll have a go at making one.

Try Shapiro Supply. Good deal on copper sheet in US, http://stores.ebay.com/Shapiro-Supply. They have 36X48 if you call them.
