Havent used one but you dont want a water distiller off the shelf your looking for something like this. Plastic and stills are not usually a good combo.

Since I'm working away from home at the moment. I need a portable still. I'm building one out of a very large S.S. coffee pot, with a condenser made out of two lengths of copper tubing soldered parallel to each other, one for the cooling water and the other for the condensate. So far I have $32 invested including a digital thermometer. I've only run water through it so far. Still waiting for the mash to finish.

Here are some threads dealing with table top distillers.

Stills like this (the ones I have seen), are not plastic. The catch container that comes with it is plastic, but if you simply collect into a glass container, then the whole vapor path is stainless or glass. I have one similar to Gerts easy still (it is the same model, just without the smaller heater). They work and I could give them a C- on usability (they are pretty small). However, for someone in an apartment, they are not a bad trade off. You "can" make a product as good or better than commercial, with a still like this (with practice).AfricaUnite wrote:Havent used one but you dont want a water distiller off the shelf your looking for something like this.
