I recently bought an 1982 Honda VF750c Sabre. Been a long time since I owned a road bike. The old Sabre might be a 1982 model but it goes like the clappers. V4, 4 valves per cylinder, 82 horsepower at 9000 rpm, 6 speed shaft drive. Now I want to upgrade to a Yamaha V Max 1200 Muscle Bike. I might have a bid on this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VMX1200-V-max-ma ... dZViewItem
Been stored outa rego in the shed for a couplea years now (bought a ute to tow the boat ect), so i don't really count in the 'who else rides a bike' column.
I have a couple of harleys, including a three-wheeler I built from the ground up. It's in getting a new paint job right now, driving me nuts cos i'm wasting the best ridfing weather in the world
Did the Enfield come from India? There are thousands of them there for a mere pittance but to buy in oz they are a bloody fortune.

Wadda ya talking about, man? The most expensive one is a tad under 8 grand. Maybe a fair bit more than you would pay in India, but you won't get any other new 500 cc road bike in Oz for cheaper.
I used to ride a fair bit when I was a young fella. If I had the money I would get another bike, and an Enfield would be among the choices (the newer models with electronic ignition, disc front brake, and upgraded gearbox).
They were originally built in England in their first incarnation, then a factory was opened in India.
There was a fair bit of difference in quality tween the pom bikes and the indian ones...
6 cylinder Honda CBX 1000 1979
BMW R75/6 1976
BMW R51-3 1954
Had a MotoGuzzi leMans MK1 1976 that I filnally managed to sell, that bike was horrible, more mending than riding. But fun when it worked. If you thought a Harley was "shaky", its nothing compared to a Guzzi.
On the wishlist:
V Max
BMW R80 G/S from the eigties, the first years or the Paris-Dakar edition...
But the wife has opinions to buying more bikes...
I have a 1990 Izh Planeta 5 (single cylinder 330 cc) Russian bike. It's horrible. It vibrates so bad you could rent it out to the ladies...
I bought it when the russians had declared an embargo against Lithuania in 1990 (no fuel, no nothing could come in). Thank God we're in the EU now... I saved a lot on overpriced black-market gas.
It was fun though. I still have it, but haven't ridden it in ages...

Who else rides a bike and what are you riding?
G'day bob, I ride a Honda CB750F2. Its going in for a service on Teusday. Must say though, I am presently researching to upgrade to a Yamaha Royal Star(1300cc) or a Kwaka Vulcan Nomad; Poor mans Harleys I know But a Harley is no good to me cause I am not a mechanic, and believe me you have to be a mechanic if you own a Hog. The Vmax were bloody legendary, Im pretty sure I have a write up on it in one of my bike mags, I'll fish it out and have a look. Most of them were imports, keep in mind the one on ebay is an 89 model.
I was wondering if there were any other bike enthusiasts. What a couple of bloody great pastimes-good combo, providing done at different times. PUNKIN kick that guzzi in the guts and get it on the road
Well it's good to see that I'm not the only motorcycle lout in the forum. There's nothing like the feeling of a brute force motor cycle beneath you, the only thing that comes close ( just my opinion ) is riding a super fit race horse.
Hi Gang: Checking in with my '82 Honda Nighthawk 650 4 cylinder. Riding on and off as family life allows, but haven't ridden since I broke my tailbone 3 years ago. It still hurts, but I have medicine for that (XXX).

They sure needed to. But if one is going to ride why not go for class and ride a Ducati

Thats a fact MudDuck. I would love a Harley, unfortunately, the price range here in Aus puts me in the second hand older model category. You can almost pick up a comparable new bike in a Jap model.
Also, blanik, if ever another bike needed to lift its game in the reliability stakes it was the Guzzi-which they have, but it took a while.

So would I rumbaba, I have several friends with new Hogs. HD have got thier act together these days, fuel injected, excellent fuel econemy, no oil leaking, some models have radiators. If I ever get one? it will be a 1200 fuel injected Sporty..... about $17-$19 grand in OZ. Untill then I don't mind riding the old V4.
