Want to build a Pot Still and try it.

Post by hoochinoo »

Hi Folks,
It is good to be back after being away for some time.

I was going to attempt and build this pot still and wanted to present my plan.

Thanks in advance for any comments that would be helpful.

.... addition.

I also had one modification in mind for the condenser. Lets see what you think about it? Since it was going inside a 5 gallon bucket, I was going to coil a couple of loops of 1/2 inch soft copper and then step down and connect to a 1/4 inch coil which I made of about 6 feet of soft copper.

Here is the progress so far:
- build out of the condenser,

- build out of the condenser housing,

- build out of the thumper,

- unit build out so far,

How are you going to seal the thumper?

Looks like a nice rig.

I will use wheat dough to seal.
Also, I have a homemade clamp that will hook to the two vertically positioned woods to hold down the pipe feeds into the thumper.

The pain is to put the thumper plumbing together. I think after doing it a couple of times it will become second nature. The elbow solder joint going down to the condenser is not soldered on one end to allow separation.

...and thanks for the kudos, Rube Goldberg, should be proud of all of us here by putting various items together in order to make out own "water of life"!

Thanks.
