Do you Sanitize your spirit bottles?

Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

Do you Sanitize your spirit bottles?

Post by demonx »

I've been talking to a few of my mates that also make spirits and it seems I'm the only one than sanitizes their glass bottles before filling them with bourbon.

I was wondering what you guys do...

Cheers

Depends what you mean. If you've got a bottle full of dust & mould it's a no brainer. If it's a clean newly emptied bottle, a rince should suffice. Above 27% by volume alcohol is its own steriliser. Your call. Use your judgement. What crap do you want floating around in your booze & your gut?
Slainte!

I rinse my spirit bottles with hot water, never had a problem.

Dudes,

I wash my spirit bottles after every use to do away from the left over smell of the previous batch not wanting to cloud my senses with old and new hooch.

Thanks.
