Must I collect slowly?
Is it necessary to collect my final drinking product at a drop or two per second? I have a reflux column, and have been making birdwatchers recipe, and using the stripping run method. When I am doing my low wine runs, I have been collecting at a rate just over 4 L/hour. The alcohol coming off is about 94%, and the temperature remains stable around 78 for the full body of the run. When the run is nearing the end, and the temperature climbs to 79, I start collecting tails. However, I have been getting only 1-2 L of tails (per 40 L of ~40% low wine run) as the temperature rises above 95 very rapidly. The booze tastes great without carbon filtering, but I am wondering if there are there any advantages (ie. less mixing) for me to run my still slower? Any input is appreciated.
