I would like to collect some Nascar popularized "Apple Pie" recipes.
This one sounds easy.
Check out this simple recipe that those of us who make neutral could do.

Damn it Pinto, you and Tater gotta quit with this fruit stuff. I'm still waiting on the peaches to come off for "peaches and corn" and I've spent more time tending my buddies blueberry bushes than he has this year. :D Start trying to make something that sounds nasty like... Cucumber vodka or sour mashed Blackeyed peas.
15 gallon pot still, 2"x18" column with liebeg condensor on propane.
Modified Charles 803 w/ 50gal boiler, never ran so far.

If you look under my apple drink post that recipe is very close to to the one I make with the exception of I add rasins and no cider just juice.

I was told to use Apple pie spice. I cut up a few apples and about 2tbl spoons of Apple Pie Spice to 1 gallon shine. Its a bit strong flavored for me. I might go with 1-1-1/4tbl spoon next time and add some more if needed. It dont take long to to spice up either!
No credit here, I was told by somebody and I really Like it! So does my friends :roll:

Now we are getting somewhere. I am visiting someone who is very familiar with it this afternoon and ask if he knows where to get some. I'll reverse engineer it if I can get a sample.

4 cans frozin apple juce ,1 tabs apple pie spice ( 1 tea cinnamon--1/4 nutmeg-1/4 allspice) 1 qt clear "vodka", , top with water to 1 gal ,add sugar to taste (brown sugar can be used)
(if you Heat juice with spice it will taste more like "cooked" apple pie) let sit for day, strain threw coffee filter

Dunderhead, I don't know why but that recipe sounds exactly right.
I was told that it usually comes with a cinnamon stick in it too. This would look real nice decorated up with a bit of gingham ribbon.

IF you added the cinnamon stick in with already added a teaspoon of cinnamon I think that would be overkill. You can probably substitute the teaspoon for the stick. Never knew they even made a apple pie spice. I'll have to try that to my recipe.

That is what is good about making your own change to suite your self ,I do know it goes well with the lasses
and you can omit cinnamon and use sticks and I think it would be a good start for "peach pie"

Heres my basic apple pie recipe.
Granny smith,and any red apples
1/4 cup of raisins
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
2-3 cinnimin sticks
Any 80-100 proof neutral,or corn hearts
Cut up apples into wedges leaving out the core and seeds
Put raisins,and sugar in jar
Put equal amounts of both kinds of apples in quart jars.{fill them up}
Add cinnimin sticks
Fill jars with booze,close,and shake daily.
After 4 days remove the cinnimin sticks.
It will be ready to drink in a week or so,but leaving it for more than a month will make it much better.Some people add a 1/2 cup of sugar,but I like it not as sweet.
If you make this,make a few jars,because it goes fast.

something to add can be used on any recipe is to filter before adding sugar much better luck

Well dunderhead, I made this simple recipe you shared. I took a gallon down to teh motorcycle shop with me today and they all agreed that it was pretty much standard "Apple Pie".
One thing I did different though. I did try filtering but my pie spice was too fine and even stopped up the course mesh filter. So I just let it sit in the fridge over night and decanted it leaving the spice in the bottom. I have to say this is going to be a big hit at some of my future get togethers.
I took them a bottle of the 100 proof orange and spice rum too. One tipped it up and spewed it out after me warning him that it was 100 proof. The other guys told him to "Man Up you big sissy" :lol:

reckin how this work using Im using apple juice apple cider and likker with with pie spices? 1 gallon apple juice 1 gallon cider 1 gallon 120 proof likker 1/2 cup each white and brown sugar 7or 8 cimminum sticks and pie spice ?Any advice on how long it should age?
I use a pot still.Sometimes with a thumper

It will work good Tater.Ive tried it.The things you have to watch is the spices.Its easy to overdo it.
I also did it with pure cider.It was all good.

i figured I'd give this a try today.
Started with a gallon of neutral @ 100 proof.
Sliced up a fresh green apple and dropped it in.
added a Cinnamon stick
Next I took I Can of Concentrated apple juice, in a pot heated it up
added another Cinnamon Stick, Nutmeg and cloves to taste.
I let that Somme for a good while.
filtered it through a cloth then added it to the mix.

I gave it a taste and its nice but some time to let the fresh apples and cinnamon stick Work in Can only make it nicer.

That's why I made gallon recipe --- it does not last , make extra and let it sit , week or so, spices settle- strain top then strain last bit wont plug
filter till end or make "tea" bag for spices

Made exactly the same stuff as in pinto's recipe some time ago for a party. People really liked it and you almost couldn't tell that there was alcohol in it ;)

I do not really age(good even fresh) but its better if you do, let it sit and clear in a cool spot, the spices will settle to the bottom and the flavors blend that takes about a week. mite wont longer with cider?

I like to keep things simple sames as cooking , so the flavor comes threw then add spices to enhance the flavor and not to cover it up
I fiend to many ingredients, you can't tell what it was supposed to be. ( then as with cooking once you git to know what goes with what you can mix and mach to suite your own taste.)

I believe I need to make a gallon or two of this and age it a tad before the Christmas season; Dnder, when you say to use a quart of 'vodka', is that a quart at 40%, or some of our neutral at 90%(or more)? I'd hate to have the nephews and nieces pass out at the Christmas Eve dinner :lol: :lol:

90 will make it at about 22% or 44 pr its 1/4 "vodka" so just divided % by 4= % x 2=pr :) (it will be close)

I use 40% abv triple distilled corn likker for mine and it comes out great. Gonna try it with a little buttery rum next to see if I can get a little buttery feel and taste to the recipe. Kind of like an apple dumpling flavor.
