Alternate grains for DWWG

Anyone ever use Quaker Oat Bran or Cream of Wheat (instant or with Farina) instead of Wheat Germ for some DWWG?

Just wondering, I found these products cheaper and greater quantity than Wheat Germ, just wanted some input.

wheatgerm is better by far than using the oats or cream of wheat .

I thank bran is just the halls. cream of wheat does not have much flavor

Is there a difference between refrigerated raw wheat germ ($1.25/lb) at health food store and grocery store ($4 /12oz) Kretschmer® Wheat Germ?
