I'll show you mine if you show me yours

Post by RumBull »

Can we start a sticky'd post of nothing but pictures of our homemade stills? Don't fill it up with alot of questions and answers, just a compilation of pictures with brief descriptions. You can always pm someone for more details or add links to detail posts. I think we all like to see what others have made. I know it has helped me to see other designs, and to have it all in one spot would be great. You keep the ideas that you like and throw out the rest.
The column design page can start one as well.
If you like the idea start adding your pictures!

sounds like a good idea..

it need not be a sticky, it just needs to be started with rules pasted as first post..

and maybee put it in a more appropriate area, if your not sure just ask a moderator..

cheers.

UJ has asked us before to add pictures to the wikki. I'm too pc illiterate to make it work for me.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

There is already at least two of these threads. One of them is a real bueaty and has pics of some of the older members and from people who don't post here often. Has at least three or four pages.

Someone better at searching may be able to find it

If they are good posts punkin, then bump them.

I've already posted in the old one, Husker after not knowing it was there and starting a new one and being...aaahhh..chastised...about it.

I'd have to look for the old one and i don't have time right now.

Some fora that I've been on would dedicate a sort of subforum to the respective section on the main page, but I don't know if that's possible with this kind of setup.

Never noticed, but this thread's title sounds really perverted if you read it with the wrong kind of mindset.

"Don't steal. The government hates competition."

Found yours in the Related Hardware forum called "Show us your still" (I don't know how to add a link.) Great minds think alike!
The link in that post to a previous thread is not working for me.
I still think it is a great idea. I know there is some scuttle about stickeys but compared to some others that have been stickey'd, I think a place to share still photos is very valuable.

I just started a page on the wiki where you can post picks of your setup. I'm thinking that this will have the advantage of always being easy to find.

I'll put together a post on how to add your pics to the Wiki Still Gallery and post it on the thread I started about it in Off Topic Discussion.

If we knew where this was we could probably add some of them to the wiki. I tried doing a search for it but the sheer volume of the responses that I had to wade through was overwhelming. After skimming twelve pages of posts I gave up.

Heers the link to the one i started..

But as you say the link to the other thread don't work anymore. Maybe a mod or UJ can decipher the path and add the other link, i do believe there was some beautifull stills there.
If we knew where this was we could probably add some of them to the wiki.
You are quite welcome to add any photos from my album to the wiki, if you think they're worthy. It took me long enough to figure out how to do things here without trying to learn another system

I went to wiki and added my rig. It is a bit complicated but I figured it out. Thank you Hack for your instructions! I don't think many people spend as much time on there as they do here, but I am playing along.

Cool stuff in your album Pinto! That is what I was hoping we could create here. I already have two new ideas I have stored in the back of my head from looking through those pics.

This forum is called, "Pot Distillation and Design, simple pot distillation and construction" I bet if one of the other posts had been here and stickey'd, I would would not have started a third.

Hah! I found the bastard, hiding down there back a few pages on the Muckaround forum...

http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 34&start=0

Hope the link works this time.
You could create a post Rumbull (if you had the energy for it) by just copying and uploading what piccies are still left into a single post with yyour credit to the author of each piccie, then post that and have a mod stickie and lock it. That way anyone who wanted their piccs loaded into the post could ask a mod to do the cut and paste and relock.

Little bit more work for the mods, but not much and a lotta work for you, or anyone else that'd be prepared to do it (not me).

Thanks for digging that out, Punkin. There's some nice looking setups in there. I'll add pics from it as I get time, but today I've got some stillin to do! Or maybe someone else who's interested in fooling around with the wiki, but doesn't have pics of their own could mess with it.

good thread idea i was gonna start one similar.. "post your setups"...

ps maybe its better setting some 'rules' in the thread so its easy to see - like one post per person per setup, pictures of a certain size only (thumbnails) and links to bigger pictures if needed. it'll suck trapsing through a picture thead with just links.

I apologize I broke the "rules".I am just a novice and find it really hard to get literate with the computer. I only wanted a couple of photos and the whole bloody lot went through. Wont happen again

this was mearly a sugestion, i like to see as many photos as there are, feel free to display any photos that help you explain what you are trying to get accross.
just keep the photos under 800x600pixels.

one thing that is helpfull if you have lots of photos in your album you can place a link to one or two photos with an explenation then a link to the entire album if somone wants to look further.

to inser a single picture from photobucket, move your mouse over the photo in the album, a black box will appear under the photo.
click your mose inside the bottom box with the title "IMAGE CODE" this will coppy the address for you.
then paste that in your post and the image will display when viewd.

like this.......................
Image

please try and leave the image there so someone can see it years from now..
you can also upload images to the site that way the link shouldnt appear as broken.
also keep the pictures under 800x600 pixels.. JPG or GIF format.

cheers and welcome to the forum...
