Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.
I increased the diameter of some of the pipe thinking it would make it faster, but it seems to take just as long to do a stripping run.
(At least we can open the microwave oven).
Thanks,
notes:
filled with 24 quarts in a 30 quart stock pot (very thin SS)
two (2) 7,000 btu burners
1 hour to come up to temp on high, 3 more hours at med-high to run it down from 30% to 15% = a little less than 1 gallon of 25% low wine.
Look at that last section before it necks down to what looks like the beginning of the liebig. If that section of lyne arm was to taper gradually down to the inlet size of the liebig, it would improve the collection rate. The longer and more gradual the taper the better. The next best thing to a tapered section would be to get a series of reducer couplings that reduce one size at a time per coupling and fit them in between the larger diameter arm and the liebig. The immediate and drastic change of size at the beginning of the liebig is killing you.
Like hack said: reduce more gradually. I would start after the 45, though; take out that ~6" piece after the 45 and go from there. Also, I wonder how much heat you're losing out the side of your pot with the two burner set-up. Have you tried just one burner?
