Using a water distiller to make "ethanol"???

I recently came across a counter top shine distiller called Mr. Distiller. You can buy it from milehidistilling.com for 280$ which is more than I care to pay for it. It looks like its just a water distiller which I could buy for 100$. Would a regular water distiller work? or is the mr distiller made specifically for alcohol?
