well i'm back and i've done my homework. i truly and absoulutley respect this art and want to try my luck at it. i want to make a rum, a light rum with tropical/citrus flavors in it and/or with spices.
i will use dark brown sugar, and maybe carmalized sugar as well.
fruit flavors that come to mind: limes, oranges, lemons, pineapple, mango
spices that come to mind: ginger, hibiscus, cinnamon, vanilla, honey, cloves.
i cannot get molasses in great volume.
i have turbo yeast, good or bad? i've heard both.
i want to age it in glass with cherry wood and vanilla in it, to smooth it out.
what does everyone think? i am in need of a 5 gallon recipe.
i also searched and could not find a thread similar to this, so this is why i made a topic.
any help appreciated.
tropical or exotic rum wanted.
