legal question...yes I read what the introduction had to say
Any way are there people petitioning for the legalization of home distillation? Its crap that marijuana will be more legal than home distillation...We need a couple states to get going on it if not already...Bah hopefully we get some people to pull through...
Re: legal question...yes I read what the introduction had to say
I would say the first phase has already begun with states making it easier for for small scale artisan distillers to get started up.

One of the reps from Michigan (IIRC) has tried to introduce a bill several times. Never makes it very far though.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

I have only purchased store bought once since my introduction to this hobby.
The gubment prolly figures if they make it legal to still as a hobby, they will loose millions (+) in revenues.
Thats the bill killer.

considering for the cost of one bottle of rum, I can get the raw materials to make a couple gallons of the stuff, and its damn good too.
rum, gin, whiskey, is so simple to make its criminal.

see I disagree with them loosing money...My friends and I pump thousands of dollars into the craft brewing industry because we new craft brews are used for inspiration as opposed ton buying fermented ass must natti I or keybone...Why does the paperwork in MI fail? I'm surprised it does because of such a large brewing community Michigan, California and Texas have huge brewing communities...vintners are huge in cali as well bah...just frustrating...made my first batch from mead...pretty yummy...only problem is I made an amateur mistake and didn't rinse my activated carbon...the powder rinse is only to make it look nice right? It shouldn't make my insides hurt right it is just clean carbon right?

I bet the lost revinue from us hobbiest distillers would be less than 10 million a year.
We print the states liquer sales totals monthly. My local area stores are bringing in around 1.6 million a month.(just 1 city)
It's not just about money, they don't want to let go of any conrtol over you and I.

I'm just blowin smoke as I don't know shit mostly. Its tough to speculate what the motivations truely are.Hawke wrote:I bet the lost revinue from us hobbiest distillers would be less than 10 million a year.

But lots of congressional folks are so far removed from regular folks. Then throw in the motivations of the religious hard right and who knows what else.
The hipocracy kills me. A legit business in Vagas is criminal enterprise in another state.
And, it's OK to have folks lined up around the block here in FL. pain releif clinics.

No, it is not bah, fuck it. It is a long process. It will not be an overnight thing.
It will happen piece meal, but until the feds are forced to change THEIR position, nothing will drastically change.

It sure got to be the lost revenue, as we all know, it's not just in the USA which don't allow homedistilling, it's practically every other country, with just a few exceptions who allow it, Recon now peak oil as come into it, with people switching over to Ethanol, wouldn't be surprised home distilling could get clamped down even harder.

Then they will be tryin to tax my vegitable patch, and my neighbors chicken coop.
Continued water restrictions due to (last years) drought, has left our water management district cash strapped. Folks are not using as much water so now the price goes up for all, what with all these implied fixed costs. You know,,, a new "take home" vehicle for all the managers!
In my area, we are on wells. But the authority having jurisdiction is proposing a yearly tax on residential well points.
Any thing to keep the meter running on common folk.

I'm about sick to death of taxes. Most people don't even know how much tax we pay. We even pay tax on taxes.
Fair Tax,Fair Tax,Fair Tax,Fair Tax! The Fair Tax By Neil Bortz and John Linder. Get it, read it, understand it. It is the single best fix for our country. Beats the hell out of the flat tax.

I tried to get this topic going on the new_distillers with no luck. They did point me to a gent in Connecticut who wrote a nice bill and and presented it to his reps (Dodd being one of them). He got no where. It is my understanding that the tax revinue in New Zealand went UP after home distillation became legal. Most people don't want to take the time to make their own so they still go to the liquor stores. There is no logic in D.C. so logic won't sway any of them. The government doesn't look at life the way I do so I quit looking at it the way government does. Screw 'em, I am an American and I do what I want, when I want and as slong as I don't hurt anyone else I don't care what "their law" says.

There are no religion/no politics rules here at these boards. This is a global board, with folks of all colors, religions, and political beliefs. Uncle Jesse wisely made these rules so we all may get along and discuss the much more important subject of distillation.pumpman wrote: But don't let the big O brown shirts hear you say that.
I dislike censorship,so I allow threads to go untill someone has a case of the dumb-shits and crosses the line. Compairing the current US administration to Hitlers' Brown Shirts is steppin' WAY arcoss the No Politics line. Sorry, but this thread must be locked now. Please follow the rules in the future and don't force me to censor anythin' ('cause I really hate it).
