finding grains locally

I live in central Ky., pretty much in driving distance of Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling green. I need to find where to buy rye and barley in say 50# bags or by the bushel. Those internet prices are out of reason, I could drive to any of those towns cheaper than ordering it online.
Anyone knowing of feed stores in the area selling these things would be greatly appreciated.

you can get malted grains online for a tad over $1 per pound most places have flat rate shipping so the cost washes out for big orders.

yes, its more expensive then in person from a grain store but it is malted and crushed. doing this yourself takes quite alot of work, time and space, especially for hundreds of pounds.

a proper grain mill will set you back ~$150 as well.


i buy malted grains online, then mix with unmalted corn etc i buy local on the cheap

ok, well I just think that when they get $1 lb for corn and I can get it for $14 a 100 lb somethings up.

Corn $10.00 for 100lb
wheat $6.00 for 50lb
rye $7.00 for 50lb
he lets me use the hammer mill to crack my grain

a city is a place where the supplyers are-- but i dont want to go back--It's 30 miles to the closest brew shop but here, i can get horse feed for $6.50 and $10.50 for 50 pound bags about 4 miles down the road..

Most horse feed that I know of is corn and oats, both will work UJSM whould be the easiest , they can be mashed but cooking is a problem
they both git thick and you still need enzymes/malt.
