Greetings Distillers,
I am a new member and this is my first post. I have put together a pretty rudimentary Pot still out of a 7l pressure cooker, and some 3/8 copper tubing. I have 6gal of mash that is ready to go that i produced from 18 lbs of apples and 10 lbs of sugar, approx 3 gal purified water.
I have run water through my still and it distills pretty well. At this point I have tried to run both my apple mash and a test batch with half a couple bottles of wine. I am getting nothing from them. nothing is coming out of my condenser...Here is my process as well as pictures of my rig,
I heat the boiler up on a gas stove slowly and until it gets to 160F I turn down the heat so that it slowly rises to 174-180 and then keep it in that range for over an hour. I have I have a condenser coil inside a bucket filled with ice. I am getting a good amount of condensation on the underside of my lid when I open it up , It is just that I am not getting anything out of the other end.
I know I am going to work my way up to a better rig but for now I am just getting started and need some serious help.
Thanks for any suggestions or sage advice you may have.
