I have 2 questions...

I have read and searched, and can't find the answers...
Does a new copper still have a break in period ? I was thinking the taste might be affected with new copper?
Second question..I have read about thumpers and thought I had this part all figured out, until I watched videos on you-tube, where in a couple of them the thumpers seemed to be almost as large as the still?? I was under the impression that a mason jar would do? Is there a difference in final product depending on the size of your thumper? Thanks..GP
