thumper help

Ok fellas i have a few questions for you.I run fruit washes through my potstill and am gettin neutral spirits. i have a two and 1/3 gallon pot thats hooked up to a worm through a bucket to cool , now my question is can i use a 1 quart thumper to add flavor like peppermint extracts or am i missing the point of a thumper. i have a new heating element coming tomorrow an am planning on uilding a permenant place for my still, and i need to know if the thumper idea would be a good idea , even if its to make the run purer.....id like to flavor it but if the thumper aint the way to go then i could use the help and wisdom of the more experienced.And if the thumper is the way to go can i solder to the lid of the quart jar?
