Cornbread's report. subtitle: I smell wet cardboard!

Post by Cornbread »

Today went like a breeze after so much bitching about being slow yesterday. Today I heated over gas stove & at 150º F, transferred to electric stove at the hiding shack..Went very very fast...Yesterdays strip run (ha ha) went from 7% abv to 38% abv for middles (but 24 % overall). Today ..in just a couple of hours....I went to 62%. The DAMN stuff taste so good...........A lot smaller amount in still plus the super heat really worked great and my temperatures stayed down a lot more. I didn't use first 1 1/2 ounces(FS), I added 6 1/2 ounces heads to my feint jar. I kept 6 four oz jars for middlings (to taste in a day or so). I was figuring on tails being about 1 cup (8 oz.) I started with 90 ounces. Since I still can't taste the cardboard, I checked to see if it burned.....Yup ! pretty bluish invisible flame.....so I may be a tad early on tails.....BUT until my taste buds recover from that asparagus casserole, I am hoping my cuts make sense to you folks that helped me so much...so very much....yesterday. Geez .. a lot of difference in 10-12 hours yesterday and 2 today? I'm back to smiling. Since this was a liquid malt type, I will taste test in a day or so and add charred oak..and let sit 5 minutes(just kidding)
*****UPDATE..my collected tails are 38% abv, so I tasted the drops now coming out......SON OF A BITCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THEY TASTE LIKE CARDBOARD ! (sorry Dnderhead, I know you don't like shouting) But I am so happy! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
