Now is the time you will find Seville Oranges in your local super market.
They taste awful(bitter) and full of seeds, not much juice, however, people, including my wife, buy them to make marmalade.
I have read that they are also the main ingredient of my favorite liqueur, Grand Marnier. I have searched the website for a recipe, the original of course being secret, with no success.
I did, however, buy six of my own oranges and carefully removed the zest (the orange part of the skin}. I put the zest into a quart sealer and covered it with 750 ml of vodka. Made notes and have put the sealer into a dark closet.
The question I have is where do I go from here? Is there anyone out there who has attempted to or perhaps even created a substitute recipe for this liqueur that they could share.
Thanks.
