farmers is the cheapest, next is feed suppliers,, then pet food, last is food stores. balk is the cheapest way to buy 50lb sack is next and small
amounts like 5lb is the most. so if you want it real cheep, go to a farm, load up your pickup. or bag it your self. most feed stores give a discount
if you buy enough .price is based on how good of crop that year , how far it has to be shipped, and how much handling they have to do.

Hey Newer Brewer, It would be a very long drive to go to were I get my corn. I am sure If you have any horse feed stores or cattle stores that sale feed and such you could get what you are looking for.
Question about sweet feed though. I would like to get some of that. Is there a brand or how do I figure out what is the best stuff to get?? Does it matter what grains or is it all corn any ways??

most sweet feed is corn/oats and some kind of molasses, watch the molasses as all is not good .

Ok I went to the Brew shop yesterday and picked up two vials of: White Labs California ale Yeast WLP001 aka Chico...As soon as I said Chico the lady said"White labs 001" Like Wowhaa I thought that was some sort of nick name only people on hear new about...like some sort of pass code.. Needless to say Ill be making up a new batch this weekend and Ill use it instead of the backers yeast. If I use a can of tomato paste for nutrients in the ferment will it come through in the flavor?? And if I wanted to propagate the yeast could I just use some sugar and tomato paste in a jar??

I don't know if tomato whould, I like to use DME it seems to work good for me and a 1LB. (1/2kg) last a long time.
molasses also works.
if you try tomato you will need a bit of sugar in it also.

Don't underestimate tomato paste. I have done some yeast starters with just tomato paste and sugar. Seemed to work fine. Don't know how well it would work if you were doing it over several generations of yeast.

It was just for this batch and when I say "This Batch" I mean the whole 4-5 ferments that come of it. I have to strip 4-5 times to get 4-5 gallons Low Whines to do a spirit run. I put yeast in in the first mash and use it through out the whole cycle...ferment..strip...add backset...ferment...strip...add backset...and so on. Yeast seem to be pretty hardy mofo's...
