favorite commercial spirit comparison

Post by rumlover »

All of you veterans on the forum , what is your favorite commercial spirit and how does it compare to some of the recipes here on the forums. Most of us newcomers have nothing for a reference. IE is ujsm similar to Makers Mark ....etc

I love the forum and thanx for your help...btw I am rum and coke guy.

I gotta chime in on this one. My favorite (before I started stillin) was Jack Daniels or dark rum with coke. I also loved Woodford Reserve bourbon, I got a bottle every year from my son. Everytime anyone asked what i wanted for Christmas or B-day I would say WHISKEY! Now that I am a pro at stilling, (3 batches UJSM, one batch of rum and 3 sugar washes), I feel like an expert. I have never liked Jack Daniels straight although the Woodford wasn't too bad for sippin. As for Uncle Jessies, I take a half a wine glass almost every evening, sometimes two with a single icecube. It is much better than anything you can buy. Tastes better, smoother and that's at two months old. I am still not satisfied with the smell but I can live with it, just not quite that bourbon nose. I dont drink Jack anymore, it's just inferior stuff. It's still good in coke whenever I dont have a choice.
