Hello from Ky

Post by Grabasstic »

Hey all, been lurking around here for a couple of months. I am fairly new to distilling. I have run 8 or 9 washes, mostly just basic sugar washes and a run of boxed wine using a friends still. Ive ordered one from brewhaus, but eventually will try and build my own. I'm interested in trying to make whiskey mostly so my first build will be a pot still. Im still gathering pieces for it now.

Gotta say I love the forums on this site. I've been able to find answers to all of my questions so far.

I am also interested in recipes in flavoring nuetral. I have made hot apple pie, strawberry panty dropper, and have some blueberry and peach in the works right now. Any recipes out there for lemon or pineapple flavors?

There is an old fart lurking around the forums named Whitedog, he makes a good pineapple drink. MM

As far as lemon goes, have a look for limoncello. Makes a great ice cold digestif.

Hey All,
Ive found the answers I have looked for so far, But im sure that Ill have questions before long. I'm lucky enough to have a buddy who has been making moonshine for years who has answered most of the questions i have had so far and even loaned me a still and gave me a beer keg to get started.
Ive managed to run a couple of sugar washes and three or four runs with sweet feed. I eventually want to build my own still and have started gathering parts for it.
I want to eventually try to make corn likker like my ancestors did in eastern Ky.

Hay there grabasstic, if you dont mind make a post the sweet feed thread under recipe development. I am hopping to get this moved to tried and true section but it will only happen after many tried this recipe and had good luck with it. Let us know if you made any variations in it and what were your results.
Thanks man.
