How long can I keep a sugar mash under an airlock?

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

How long can I keep a sugar mash under an airlock?

Post by the kid »

Well I have 15 pounds of dextrose, 5 gallons and a packet of still sprits turbo classic (I know, I know  ) in a carboy with an airlock and it's really calmed down... to the point that there only a few thin slow lines of bubbles coming up and it's at 76*. My question is: How long can it sit without distilling before it goes bad? Is it like bottled beer and can sit at room temp seeing as it has an airlock (so I would think it thinks it's bottled?), or do I need to do anything to preserve it (IF possible)? Or do I need to...

I'm sure it's prob going to be sub-par seeing as it's my first run and it was with turbo, but I'd like to be able to salvage it if possible... It will prob be another week or MAYBE two before my (all stainless (other than the copper coil)) boka head is finished and I'm ready to run :x
