Hello everybody. I built a water jacketed condenser pot-still from a Burco 10 gallon boiler and copperwork about 25 years ago. It worked ok but the output tasted like shit. I have been reading this site and I can see about a dozen reasons why it was so poor. If this site was available 25 years ago I would never have given it up. I still have the condenser (about a metre long) and now Intend to build a refluxing column. I am a medical herbalist professionally and so have an interest in refluxing plant material to extract volatile components without loss, extraction of Essential oils and hot masceration to extract resinous componenets. Oh ..... I like whiskey too!!! I am cool on the design of the refluxing column but would welcome advice on boilers. I am considering this boiler: http://www.devonscatering.co.uk/product ... ter+boiler" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow I don't want to mess around with milk churns and stuff like that. Does anyone have experience of sealing/gasketing and clamping the lid of something like this?
Any advice/pointers will be thankfully received and faithfully applied.
Fraternal Regards
Johnathan
