continuous still design

We don’t condone the use of Continuous Stripping stills as a method of running 24/7 as this is a commercial setup only .
Home distillers should never leave any still run unattended and Continuous strippers should not be operated for longer periods than a Batch stripping session would typically be run to minimise operator fatigue..

continuous still design

Post by copperstill »

I'm looking for help on working on building a continuous still based on Armagnac stills. I know that I forgot to make a pot still drain in the drawing. I am wondering if anyone can answer if some questions on plate numbers and abv output. I also wondering if anyone has any illustrations or pics of Armagnac stills. It is my intent to run direct fire.

Did you mean another chapter other than 5? That chapter is about mashing and starch conversion.

I'm familiar with this info. I am more interested in hashing out if I can combine elements of Holsteins ability to open and close bubble cap trays to adjust the final output abv with a patent stills ability to blow off the higher alcohols (so one wouldn't need to age as long) and the Armagnac stills ability to run continuously using the wine/mash/what ever I care to distill as coolant.

To my knowledge there is only Joe (Rednose) and myself that run plated columns, neither are continious stills, they are single batch production stills. Joe's is a 3 plate column and mine is a 5 plate column.

So what are you running through them and what are you getting for final product in purity? Also I am trying to figure out how I go about venting off the higher alcohols that build up on the continuous still.

Why would you not just use the continous still as a stripper?
