After reading Kiwistillers VM OP guide. I am going to take his advise on stripping wash through a pot still first. Then distilling through my VM. I had always intended on making a pot still I love whiskey but most of my friends drink vodka so reflux has been my #1 priority. I had intended on constructing a thumper but don't currently have time. My efforts have been focused on electric, leaves are gonna be dropping here in New England soon and I will loose cover to distill with discretion. That also means archery season is coming and its time to get some meat in the freezer.
My column is constructed from 2' triclamp sections measuring 20",12", 12", 7" a tee with 9" on top with my double coil. Product take off the 2" tee is a 1"SS gate valve 1"SS elbow dropping into 1/2" X 3/4" leibig 33" long with a 20" jacket.
My Questions are...
1. Out of the 20",12", 12", 7" sections what should use for my pot still? How would you configure it.
2. Will my liebig be enough to run decent stripping runs can I use it for spirit runs?
3. How long should I allow myself to do a stripping run of 40L 10% ABV thinking would like to do 2 in one day
4. I need ideas for storing large amounts of stripped product I assume plastic is not suitable for this. (I have 30gal of wash i need to strip soon)
Thanks and Cheers,
M
