looking for a flavouring still

Post by praefect »

I need a tiny flavouring still, I'd like to buy something commercially available.

I would gladly buy this but can't find it anywhere...

Anyone know where I can get this? The main use will be gin flavouring.

thanks

If I would be you I would use something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Copper-Tea-Kettle-/ ... 27b52dd814" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Hav someone to cut the swan neck and solder it more to the top, have someone to make you a liebig condenser and you are done.

Even a worm in bucket would do the job.

The lid can be sealed by flour paste.

There are for sure some folks here that can help you in the built if you can't do it.

To look for a kettle you like search for "tea copper" in ebay.

Botanical pot still.jpg
I made this small botanical still using standard plumbing fixtures for the copper
the condenser is made using two bits of copper pipe , one continuous for the essence , the other larger to hold the water for cooling , all held together with copper reduction fittings

you will need to go to the hardware store and sort through the plumbing bits , the tee pieces to make the water connect maybe a bit difficult to find

the pot is spray gun canister , why because the fitting on top was standard , unfortunately the pot is aluminium ,
but it makes a nice steam distillation unit

the biggest advantage is that it goes together without soldering

I use it for making gin concentrate mainly and other essences
