Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

lenox lead free solder sith selenium safe?

Post by eman33 »

While picking up some fittings at lowes the other day i saw some lenox lead free solid wire solder. It says that it contains tin, copper, and selenium. Would this solder be safe to use to solder my still together or should i get some different stuff?

I also picked up some Dutch boy general purpose petroleum based paste flux and also some lenox general purpose petroleum based tinning flux. Which of these would be better to use? Or shoud i return everything and keep looking? I have 1 joint in my still that is gonna need to be copper soldered to stainless steel. Ive read that you can use the same solder, just that you need a differant flux. If someone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it. Eric
