whoa...keg with MK5500K kicks more than ass

Post by condensificator »

wow. totally different experience that using my 1500w hotplate and 8 gallon milk can. have to learn how to drive my rigs all over again...

sure is nice having a 30-45min heat up for 12 gallons instead of 1-1/2 to 2 hours for 6!!!

control is very sensitive and immediate. a little touch of the dial one way of the other, and the stream changes size in a second.

thanks a ton MK!

edited photo out. i'm going to do a fix on the hot male that will require a tool to remove...then i'll repost pics.

i mounted it to a block of aluminum instead of something permanent so i could put it away when not in use.
simple, does its job, made with love. kicks some mule-ass.

Thats right, everyone has a pinch of fairy dust in it. Hey C. If I knew how you were gonna hook it up, i would have made the pig tails longer coming out of the box. I have mine with a longer extension cord between the control and the boiler so i can lay the control on the bench for easy access. No problems though, glad yer getting some good use out of the old girl. :D

I know you know better C. , but I sure do hope you are mindful of that male end.

Make sure you are off the grid completely before you pull that plug. Cuz that shit will make your elbows hurt if ya get a lil touch.

I know you know.

Just doin my job on behalf of the masses.

BTW I put twist and locks on all my pig tails.

it actually worked out perfectly. i used a big ass rv extension cord to get from the service disconnect to the box. chopped the male end off to wire into your control so i can disconnect it and put it away when not in use.

damn straight son! that's what the 3/8 bolt and the wingnut is for. it is to lock it in place when it has potential to be hot...i would never touch that wingnut if the circut was not turned off at the service disconnect and the extension cord was disconnected.

i am actually going to change it so the bolt will not dig into my melonfarming ankle when i'm moving it!!! OUCH!!! going to put nuts on the box instead of the bolt sticking out...i'll do one on either side of the hot male, with a ss strap across.

i get a bunch of shit for all of my safety stuff....but, no one ever got hurt from an over abundance of safety! and it's always good to remind people of such...so...thanks!

CD,

There's another angle to your hot male plug, and it makes me uncomfortable.

Someone, with less technical savvy than you have, is bound to marvel at your fabrication wizzardry and possibly conclude that this wiring is also the way to go.

The results could be lethal for that person.

I know that you know that the fix is super easy.
Perhaps replace the original photo ?

Just saying, with all due respect.

ahhh...

The fix that I had in mind, was to remove the pigtail with the male end (plug) from the controller, and wire it to a new box on your keg.

Then connect another pigtail to your controller, with the free end connected to the box-mounted female receptacle that you have removed from the boiler.

In other words, reverse your connections.

...yes, but that defeats the purpose of why i did it this way in the first place. it was not an accident...and for ME, personally, it was a good solution.

but yes, i will fix it to a conventional set up and retake photos so i wouldn't lead anyone to their demise.
