packing for my column

Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

packing for my column

Post by suburban hillbilly »

Hi
I've gone and got carried away and started to build my own new still. Its a slightly scaled down version of a reflux column that I have plans for (see attachment).
I have a 26 litre (around 6.8 us gallons, 5.7 uk gallons). Im using 34mm copper for my main column and ending up with a 28mm jacket over a 22mm condenser core.
The Question I have is that I have a lot of 10mm copper pipe left over and was considering cutting it up into small pieces to us as my column packing. Is this a good idea or is it not suitable?
