hi everybody, just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I'm just starting out with this new "hobby", really don't know anything about it other than what i've read but am willing to learn. Just bought a 3 gallon still from rockytop stills and am really anxious to get started. I love this site so far and am looking foward to being a part of the distilling group. I'll probably ask some dumb questions along the way so bare with me. thanks :P

Welcome.

I'm not familiar with the still you bought or what your goal is but I'd bet you'll want to upgrade from 3 gal. fairly soon. Most folks seem to end up with a 10-15 gal still for home/hobby use.

I'm looking into buying the same still and would like to know more about your experiences with it in the future. It looks to be quite a deal, especially when you compare it to some of the other offerings out there at the same price. I was pricing copper pipe and fittings to make one similar and passed the $100 mark before even finding a decent pot...
