Nastoyka?

Post by Titus-a-fishus »

Has anyone made or heard of how this Vodka based spirit is made?

Was doing some searches on various herbs including Galangal.
Up popped this link saying that galangal along with other herbs is use by Russians to make a flavoured vodka.
It is supposed to be a decent drop .......

Any ideas or are there recipes out there?
Also spelt Nastoika

Most people that make it at home do it by infusion. They classify it by how bitter or sweet it is by alcohol content. The following blog gives a pretty good discription.

Thanks for that Bushman

That was the site I viewed.
Along with several others
But none gave specifics or even a list of herbs.

So was looking for someone that had a list of herbs and possibly amounts of each used in one of the many varieties of this drink.
Sounds like an interesting drink.

Still looking..........

Cheers

Nastoyka: the root of the word is staytz - to stay, to leave...

Mrs Sam's Ukrainian and she says some of the ingredients are left to infuse for many years...

Some cafe's and bars in Moscow, Kiev, etc; pride themselves in have great tasting Nastoyka...

Example:
  • Cherry : Veeshna : Nastoyka name: Veeshnovka...

Plumb : Sleeva : Nastoyka name: Sleevyanka...

Pear : Groosha : Nastoyka name: Grooshovka...
Hope this helps man... :D
