Sorry about the two posts but that is the way this site is set up.
The last roll out would be the eye piece. A person could wrap and tape this so that they would know f their cut is accurate enough for soldering.
My thought on this was condensificator has a great tutorial but if you wanted to take the guess work out of fitting this might be an alternative. If this short tutorial gets some of you with more creative minds than mine then maybe we can put this to great use. This forum has helped me tremendously and I would like to share or give back some of my talents

...or you could just use the link that i posted in the initial post that will do all of that for you instantly by inputting the pipe size without any software. http://www.harderwoods.com/pipetemplate.php did you see this? it spits out single-printer-page, tape-together templates.

Yea, I looked at that and it is easier for the example I posted. What I was trying to do was promote ideas for layout maybe an Alembic Pot still with an onion shaped boiler but rather than do that layout I choose your design as a quick reference. May not have been the best place to post it, maybe I should just do a full layout pattern like the sheet metal people do. Thanks for your original post it is a great tutorial!condensificator wrote:...or you could just use the link that i posted in the initial post that will do all of that for you in instantly by inputting the pipe size without any software. http://www.harderwoods.com/pipetemplate.php did you see this?

...so, KS has a version of these complete on his site: http://www.hillbillystills.com/category_s/54.htm
even comes with borosilicate glass (pyrex/lab) and available with a copper sleeve pre-installed for those who find joining SS to copper tricky. wish he would'a had them up a couple months ago! can't believe how fast all of this stuff is progressing. HD rules!!!

Condensificator,
Great job on the tri-clamp ferrule sight glasses! This was my plan and I almost thought it was an original idea... You have some great ideas on the manufacture though.
My question is this:
I'm making a flute out of 3" stainless brewery pipe. Planning on 5 plates and sight glasses. I was planning on bringing the pipe into a machinist to cut holes for the sights, but I see that you've cut SS with a hole saw. The 3" I'm using is only 3/64 thick, so a hole saw is sounding like a better idea. Did you use any particularly special kind? I found some at the local hardware that state they're for "Metal/Wood" but don't elaborate. Any suggestions? Should I find a diamond hole saw?

Re: easy tri-clamp ferrule sight glasses
luv it...!
yer tri-clamp sections are just what i was thinking of in my tri-clamp-still idea...
(funny how new ideas are usually rehashes of old ones...)
btw: you gonna put a plate in front of that sight glass (inside the section)...?
william...
ps. thought of doing a tri-clamp section of a boka take-off...?
