Howdy Y'all From Texas

Post by maddyn99 »

Just wanted to introduce my self. I just purchased a home wine making kit (for the wife) and am looking forward to making some wine. I bought all the equipment on-line and purchased the juice/chemical locally. I am also interested in possibly doing some home distillation. I drink Vodka and have been looking at building/buying a reflux still, but thats probably a few months away for now till i get a handle on at least a drinkable version of some home wine. Glad to find such a active and well informed forum.

Remember everything is better and bigger in Texas
It will be a great day when all children go to private schools and the money wasted on public education goes to building bombers.

Welcome - and I must say you're starting in the right place - helps to know how to make a good wine before you start distilling. Texas is a great place for distilling supplies - be sure to check out Brewhaus if you haven't already. I travel to Texas on business alot, and that and AustinHomebrew Supplies are my go to places. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum, if you are thinking about a reflux still read up on the various designs. We have some great plans here and not as hard to build as you might think. Probably the hardest part is making the condenser coil but with some of the tutorials here that is even fairly easy. It's a lot less expensive to build and you will probably have a better understanding of all the functions while you study the build. If you decide to buy I would avoid some of the stills on ebay some of the stuff is ok but they have some pretty questionable products (personal opinion). Also on this forum you will soon see what companies sell quality stuff and which ones tend to rip you off. By studying the designs here it will give you a more informed decision on which stills are good! Good luck which ever way you decide to go :D

Yeah, everything is bigger and better in Texas.
(Bad joke).
Know why the wind blows all the time in Arkansas?
No why?
Cause Texas sucks!
Wine making is the first half of making some really great booze.
