Been sippin so skews my brevity.....
She perty as hell. Run it a time or two to confirm a thing or two. Then sell it.
Ain't gonna beat no 4" any kinda way....IMO.

I here you.rockchucker22 wrote:and not in it to sell
Recon the 4" material stole the show and now we're (you) working backwards as the the 2" ( up till now) has been completely left out of this design.
2 years (or so) ago this build would have set the world a blaze. Had to bee done though.
Great solution for a less spendy version.

Re: 2" bubble cap
I was wondering how this still preformed. The flute mark 2 has the same weir style of single bubble cap (unless you stayed with the tubular down-commers)and I was wondering how this worked on the 2" column.

Re: 2" bubble cap
I am about to embark on a 2" and 3" version. I am going to use a simple leibeg condenser on these builds. I am trying to keep the cost down but make a quality single run product. I am struggling right now whether to use a single bubble cap or perforated. I am only going to do 2 plates. They will be capped off and have a side take off. I still have more designing to do. But that is pretty close to what it will be. Your build is very interested to me. I look forward to your results of this beauty. It looks great. Good skills there man.. Impressive.

Hi Rock.
Can you talk about how stable the apperatus remained while drawing off the lm and and running the cm.

I'm interested in your 2" bubble cap, and even a little jealous

Re: 2" bubble cap
Reason I ask is that I would like to build a new thumper still that has a larger top chamber to offer more stability during take off. And also include a gravity drain for heads removal.
Waiting for my current rig to fully cycle before liquid starts to return to the primary boiler takes about an hour. But once fully equalized it pisses along pretty good with high proof.
So my pea brain was thinking that a larger top chamber would add more time the process,, but a gravity drain merging with the vapor out of the cm tool may be,,,,,,,a real pisser....so long as the take off is calibrated to not allow the thing to have unstable behavior.
Was wondering if you may have any insightful observations?

Re: 2" bubble cap
So heres the thing....We know that 90 can be acheived with a mere 2 plates and a deflowmahgator and Loneswingers simulation of my rig shows the lower plate below the very top to be producing nearly the same abv as the top.
To me that sounds like a.fairly stable environment with which to experiment with some take off speeds.

Love reading these old threads and seeing what some of the ideas have turned into today. Some of the stuff that is just normal talk today was some very forward thinking ideas just a couple years ago.

Can be some what embarrassing in some ways at times.....And if you go back just a bit further,,,,,,it can certainly be even more embarrassing.LakeLover wrote:Love reading these old threads and seeing what some of the ideas have turned into today. The bar has been raised these past few years for sure.

Yea I read a bunch of them. If you're talking about the one that had a YouTube link of you tripping all over yourself after spouting off a little yea I read that one also.

Before building a 2" plate still you might consider reading through this. http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... =1&t=37093
At the very least try using the calculator/excell sheet I attached on the very last post. I certainly am not saying a 2" wouldnt work but I do suggest looking at which parameters it would work in. Specifically what kind of collection rate, what reflux ratio and at what kind of plate spacing. Now the original work did not go down to a 4" plate spacing but they do go as low as 6".
good luck

Yes that one could qualify,,,,for more than one party other than myself as well.LakeLover wrote:Yea I read a bunch of them. If you're talking about the one that had a YouTube link of you tripping all over yourself after spouting off a little yea I read that one also.
My assertion remains quite intact...and quite true. 95% is possible with 4 plates.
My execution was unknowingly flawed with a kinked reflux condenser hose that softened after heat up.
As demonstrated in the vid,,,I easily pulled 95 well after a liter of 94....My only embarrassment comes from not being completely sorted for the actual vid as i really wanted to stuff my assertion right down the throat of the detractors with a flawless, unscripted and unedited run...
Their embarrassing moments are time stamped further back and are littered about within the community both here and there.
