Probably a stupid question, I wanted to ask the gurus here before I throw the bottle out.
A few weeks back, I made a bottle of neutral spirit and infused it with jalapeno and garlic. The garlic went in cleanly, but the peppers needed to be sliced, which lead to juice being released into the liquid.
This resulted in a beverage that was far too spicy to drink. So I decided to run it through the still again to reduce the strength of the flavour. It worked, in that it tastes a lot more mild. Still spicy, but bearably so. However, it now smells kinda chemical-like, and I'm wondering if there's anything dangerous in the jalapeno juice (or the garlic essence, for that matter) that could have come out during the distillation.
Distilling jalapeno juice - dangerous?
