Hi all,
There must be something in Dunedins water to have 2 locals join up within 24 hours.
My still is a baby reflux made by Spirits Unlimited. Having purchased it a week ago, I am already scheming how to 'grow' it to a 30 litre
version. From my reading here, it is simplicity to convert the 5 litre to a pot still which is likely what I'll do when I am more experienced.
Great Forum. Cheers.

Welcome to HD smoothshinejack..
Yeah, a 5L boiler just isn't enough to give you proper cuts when setting out...
Have fun but stay safe my friend...

Welcome smoothshinejack
Good to see another Dunedinite on here.
That Spirits Unlimited is where my still came from as well, it must be a popular place. I have the eurostill 30 with the dual power.
Good luck with your 1st batch, you will get lots of helpful advice on here, it's a great forum.

Doing the math, suggests a larger still would be more efficient. The Spirits Unlimited, Euro reflux 30, the large brother of my Euro 5, retails at $599.00.
Another option, is the StillSpirits Turbo 500 reflux for another $100 This is a single element, as against dual, with an 'external underneath element' and removable lid, tap, dual thermometers etc.
It would also appear to require less cooling water overall, which is a plus as I am on tank rather than mains supply.
I am sure both stills have their good and bad points. I am entirely unfamiliar with the Turbo 500 though so would appreciate any advice proffered.
Thanks in advance.

Here is a thought. I am told there are several hundred distillers here in Dunedin, New Zealand. Are there any Still makers, non commercial, who might be willing to make me a Still equallng or bettering what is available in the shops etc?
Cheers.
