Heat Rejection Designs....

Post by NewGuy »

Hey All,
Been wondering how everybody gets rid of the heat from the condenser water, there's tons of threads out there about boiler design and columns and such, but not too much mentioned about the cooling side. How do yall do it?
I use an outside garden hose, real cold water in (55DegF), throttled down to a trickle, warmish water out (120DegF). PRO- Can knock down a hell of alot of vapor for quick stripping runs. CONs- makes a mess (puddle in yard) on a long spirit run. Not easy in freezing weather.
Been thinking about building a small cooling tower with a bucket and a pump and shower head set up, should still be able to reject plenty of heat, without wasting all the water.
I've read a few posts about guys using coils and fans with pumps, and I wonder how much heat can a dry coil put off? How big of a fan do you need?

Anything else out there? Just wonderin how everyone does it?
