Hello Everybody

Post by runescaster »

Hi everybody,
I guess I'm the new guy, I live in upstate New York, USA , born and bred hillbilly , people sometimes forget that there is more country in New York than city, we build race cars and blow stuff up for fun. Lived in Florida for about ten years got my real taste of moonshine from the guys from Kentucky , Georgia, and Tennessee that used to come down every winter to fish. When I moved home I had a friend that had a small pot still given to him and we played around with that last year. So this year I am kicking it up a notch and I am in the process of building a vm still I (of course) will be posting pics as soon as it is finished. I have a keg some 2in copper and (I think) all the in-between pieces to put it together. I plan on assembly after the Holidays. I also have about 8ft of 4in copper that I am saving for after the 2in is done and I have a better understanding of things. Was thinking about making a sweet flute like MY SEXY GIRL aka Wet Wendy but like I said you have to crawl before you walk, run, or fly like in Mash Rookie's case. I make a living trading futures so to kill the stress of that game I need to find relaxing hobbies. I am looking forward to chatting and sharing. I have already learned so much as an outsider here I have to THANK EVERYONE. Happy Holidays everybody!

Welcome Runes; should I get out of the market until this volatility smooths out?

Sounds like you're on the right track, I'd suggest a potstill head on a keg boiler, then you could easily swap out other heads as needed. A Boka head with a well designed potstill head is a terrific combination.

+1 on that. (I keep telling myself that so I don't have to try to build a Flute.)

Welcome Runescaster. A hillbilly futures trader is a concept I need to work at in order to get my head around it. I suppose you might be able to tell us when to buy grain, though. Know anything about sugar futures?

Bull Rider, that is exactly what I'm thinking I love my whiskey but there's nothing like being able to have some neutral immediately. On the markets I think the dow and S&P have one small (maybe very small) up move left then it will be trouble all of next year PROTECT Yourselves everybody! Europe Is going down and we will all suffer. First downside target for dow is like 9600 then 5000 or so and I think an optimistic view over next two years is 3800. But no one listened when chicken little screamed the sky was falling so I don't expect anyone to listen to me. They have inverse etf's to protect against just such things. That is why I need to get this baby built so I can enjoy myself. :D .

Braz, I don't trade sugar or the grains, I trade the indices, crude , precious and semi precious metals, currencies, and the treasuries. I do believe we are headed for a period of deflation that will cause the prices of everything to collapse so sugar will be cheap. So will all this damn copper. :lolno:

Thanks for the replies guys.

Welcome to the forum, I would hang onto that 4" copper until your sure what you want, I just purchased a 4" x 50" SS for a column, Mash Rookie has an idea that we can get the same or better results than a flute without the hardwork (I guess the build and test will be the determining factor). He is going to design and build my next one (hope I can help a bit and learn from him) so stay tuned, probably be sometime after the holidays.

I'll keep my eye out for it Bushman. I would be grateful if you would let me know about the results. Like I said I am going to make sure I know what I am doing and what I really want before I attempt anything with that big piece of copper. I was lucky a contractor friend gave it to me. Not going to waste it for sure. Thanks for the welcome everybody.
