Need Advice Please

Post by Bootleggers Son »

I made a 5 Gallon Cornmeal wash for some corn Squeezins...Here's what I used, 3 1/2 lbs. of Yellow whole Cornmeal and 1 1/2 lbs. of White Whole Cornmeal , both 100% stone Ground.
Used 7 lbs. of Sugar...Checked the sg before I pitched the yeast 1090.......8 Days later the sg is at 1010, with just a few bubbles here and there, but all of the Cornmeal has not sunk. Should I go ahead and run it?
I'm figuring the abv is around 10.32%. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

Thanks,

BS

Skoop off what's floating, dump the rest in another container, leaving sollids behind. Let it clear in a cooler place for a day or 2. Rack into your boiler and run it.

If you are going to use the dregs again just don't worry about the floating and just put more corn sugar, backset and water. If you are going to ferment a few times off the dregs all the old timers tell me not to worry about the floating stuff. Add your new ingredients, swirl, and let her bubble. I let it go to SG of 1 or less cause its still working above that.

""corn Squeezins...""??????,,,,,Nnnoo.
what you have is sugar head.or sugar wash with corn for some flavor and nutrients.
I have not seen any one do "corn squeezing" in many years.

Ozark,

Not sure I understand you ... but are you maybe mixing up UJSSM (sugar) & an all grain corn whiskey?

here is one forum-http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... =34&t=4564
but you sugar head will clear,if you place it in a cool location it will clear faster.
some let mostly clear then remove the top,and let it finish clearing in another container.
this way they have the fermenter to make another batch.
