I'm a long time lurker, been posting some recently so I thought I'd drop by the Welcome Center.
The parent site and this forum have been an awesome resource, I've used it a lot to get recipes and figure out "tried and true" methods to bypass months of trial and error. Thanks to all of those who've taken some time to answer my noob questions.
I'm a chemical engineer by trade, and I thought it'd be fun to apply some of that theory to making likker.
Around 2 years ago I got into home distilling via pot stills. Last year on a whim I built myself a rickety CM type still and I've been making whiskey/rum/brandy. Just getting around to barreling stuff this week. The old girl's on her last legs, so it's time to retire her.
I'm just now drafting up plans to make an all-316 stainless (except a copper condensing coil) LM Nixon-Stone type offset head still with maybe 2 feet of 6mm berl saddles. I reckon it'll be good for rums and lighter whiskies.
Anyways, hello.

Hi Chemeng,
Welcome again. Think we met in your post on whiskey column distilling, right?

Odin,
Yep. Thanks for talking to me about that. After talking with you in the other thread I realized that I'd been asking a lot of questions in the last week or two without properly introducing myself, and felt right ashamed.
