Looking around, I haven't been able to find any discussion about using a turkey fryer kit as a boiler. Something like [http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004070Q9E] seems ideal - stainless steel, heat source with a good fit included, flat top to put a flange on, included thermometer to monitor the wash's temperature...
Is there a reason not to use a setup like this?

Re: Turkey Fryer for boiler
i use the burner on one of those, but truthfully the pot is still in the box, i havent really looked at it. i thought they were aluminum. i should get it out and make a big kettle of chile.
today marks the dawn of a new error.

pot with mine is alum also....makes a damn fine deep fried turkey....and the chile is sounding good too! if the pot is stainless id say go for it but a domed top is more suitable to vapor stream
