washing corn

Post by stillenand chillen »

OK, I was on my 4 gen of ujssmm when I noticed product was coming out kinda tinted. :esurprised: Not clear. Got done with the run and took apart the pothead, wadded up some paper towels and taped them to a rod and started cleaning the inside of the pothead. Paper towels came out scary dirty. Is this normal, is this something that needs to be done, are these sulfides or do I need to wash my grains first?

I am using hillybilly stills 3" pothead set up. 26 gallon electric boiler.

I was running a little harder on the last run. Just wondering why does that cause this.

Id say its starches or similar carred over because you ran fast/still was to full, this is ok for a stripping run but not a spirits run,heads/tails/sulfides will be clear, this is where taste/smell/feel comes into play.
