Boiler Takeoff Location
I am Fabricating a boiler from a 30 gallon SS tank. The top is about 24" in diameter and is flat. I plan to weld a 4" SS ferrule to the top and attach a 4" plated column to it. Does the 4" SS ferrule need to be located in the center (as most I've seen here) or can it be offset to balance the weight a bit? I am wondering about performance issues if any????

Re: Boiler Takeoff Location
It can be located anywhere on top you want to put it. If the top is flat? It pony make a difference. But you will want it to be well balanced. To avoid tip over from the weight of the column.

Re: Boiler Takeoff Location
hard to imagine a still head risking a tip-over of a 200+ pound tank of wash . If it was mine, I'd be focusing more on which location is going to make the strongest mounting point with the least amount of flexing of the top....might even consider havin some ribs welded to the top if the material is thin.
