Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.
I picked up supplies from a different grocery store this week, and my inattention my have screwed up my wash. I have been making 4 gallon ferments of Rad's All-Bran recipe, and have been very pleased with the result. Usually, I pick up 2 8 pound bags of sugar and convert them before fermentation. However, yesterday, after I had popped on the airlock and sat my equipment in the garage to bubble away, I noticed that I had inadvertently used 10 pounds of sugar.
So... Am I safe to just add another gallon of water to my bucket (I have more than enough room to do so, even with the nice krausen I've got going), mix and re-seal? The ratio would be the same then. I'm afraid that the 10 pounds I have in there now will never ferment dry in 4 gallons.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Damn.... I need to pay closer attention next time.

HeHe,
Ya, that's prolly what I'd do, crack it open and add 1 gallon and close it, no need to stir it.
...and if it was me, id be using that 8 pounds in 5 gallons or water

Hey, thanks for the help guys. Appreciate it. I noticed when I was charging the still, and spilled some on myself, that my wash was still somewhat sticky. Had I not been a lazy ass, and used my hydrometer, I wouldn't have been in that predicament, but lesson learned.
I popped my fermenter open tonight and filled it up to the 5.5 gallon mark. Would've taken a reading, but I'm over 24 hours into it, and didn't see the point.
